Skin is the most important thing which should be taken care of properly. Makeup serves one purpose to create an illusion. Makeup can create the illusion of having flawless skin, a smaller nose, larger eyes and smoother lips. But, when makeup is used haphazardly as a beauty utensil, it can magnify wrinkles, deepen the look of scars and make your pores look like moon craters.

Water based foundations are made for oily skin, not dry skin. Look for oil/moisture based liquid or cream foundations instead. These are best suited for dry skin because they replenish moisture. If your skin is on the light side of dry, you should be able use mineral foundations as long as your skin is properly hydrated.

If your foundation lasts all day but can sometimes make your skin look too oily, use a translucent loose powder after foundation application. This can help lock your foundation in place and will soak up excess oils that are created by using oil based foundations.

All mascara’s should work well for dry skin types. However, if you have flaking skin around your eyes, its best to forgo waterproof mascara’s that can be drying if used over prolonged periods of time.

The blush you use should also be creamy, especially if your skin is extremely dry. Powder blush should only be used if your cheeks don’t need extra moisture.
